Unscathed, we’ve made it to the Toledo area and the worst is behind us. Of the more than 7000 miles of this trip, the segment around Chicago was easily the least enjoyable part with its nonstop construction, aggressive drivers, heavy truck traffic, creeping pace. Special driving tactics on our part were called into play, namely putting Patty behind the wheel: ever patient, ever vigilant, always calm. It’s no wonder we got through safely! As for Chicago’s highway problems, I fear they will only end when the city is completely paved over.

With no camera in action today, the selected “filler” topic is
“Beauty Spots”.

Of photos taken earlier in the trip that have not yet been posted, the winning entries are shown below.

What wonderful reflections!

So, our last night in a hotel, one more day on the road, anticipation of our next dinner being at home (!), our own bed to sleep in. It’s been a good trip but being homebodies for awhile will be most welcome.
