Our day began with a drive up Old Mission Peninsula from Traverse City, MI. For the most part, the views are of orchards, vineyards and beach-side homes --- some modest, others ostentatious. In the town of Old Mission, the General Store looks like it fell out of the past.
The feeling inside the store matches the exterior:
The very tip of the peninsula is near 45 degrees north latitude, the same latitude as Salem, Oregon, and the border between Montana and Wyoming:
