Kodachrome Basin State Park
-
This 2,200 acre park, 20 miles from Bryce Canyon, is off Utah Hwy 12. The Park contains more than 60 monolithic stone spires. Indeed, these large columns of sedimentary rock, aka “sedimentary pipes”, are the most distinguishing feature of the Park. Moreover, there is an impressive double arch called Grosvenors Arch. However, many of these sights are spread over a wide area and reachable only by dirt roads and serious hiking.
We merely scratched the surface with our climb to a convenient vantage point:
The summit we finally reached was high enough to miniaturize our automobile ...
... and gain us a panoramic view of the main park area:
The imagination can be challenged by stone spires like this one, close to our parking lot. Just WHO are those two?
Might they be biblical senior citizens? a friend helping a wounded comrade to walk? or just two friendly goblins? ... We may never know.
