A stop in Saugatuck, MI, to see the Chain Ferry crossing the Kalamazoo River. This little beauty is hand-cranked by the operator to pull it along a chain attached to both shores.

Saugatuck Sally standing serenely beside the Kalamazoo.

The wonderful Lake Michigan beach at Muskegon just south of the harbor channel entrance:

Strolling along the channel which leads into Lake Muskegon:

We would easily name the boardwalk at Manistee, MI, the best riverside boardwalk we have ever been on. Running about 1 and 1/2 miles from the downtown area to the beach, an enormous amount of effort and expense must have gone into its construction.

Notice how the incline doubles back on itself to avoid using stairs. My, oh my!

Here the boardwalk climbs up and around the wooden dock used by boat owners:

An intriguing little shack along the boardwalk. We’re not certain what it’s use is (or was) but we’d guess the occupant repaired nets, among other things.

As you may surmise, we are spending the night in Manistee, MI. Were we here longer than just one night, we'd surely do that boardwalk again. It is superb!
