The laundry! More hotel reservations! Shopping for necessities! --- Fortunately, these exciting tasks consumed only the morning. Cleared of chores, we had the afternoon free to enjoy our first dance this trip: one for seniors at a nearby VFW. Good exercise, friendly folks, peppy music and almost free. So, with no new photos to publish, this page will be graced with yesterday’s surplus.

Shown below is the second largest vessel on the Great Lakes as it receives a load of iron ore pellets while docked in Duluth Harbor. Instead of using only gravity to load the ore, these super-ships are loaded with conveyor belts that better distribute the cargo.

The following three photographs show scenes along the Osaugie Bike trail which runs past the waterfront of Superior, WI. Although not the most enjoyable bike trail we’ve ridden, here and there it did have a beauty of its own.

The path has an unusual feature in that it is open to ATV’s as well as to skaters and bikers. They ride on a dirt path right next to the pavement and it is impossible for them NOT to raise dust as they travel. Lucky for us, only a few of the noisy, motorized vehicles passed us by.

Tomorrow, we bid adieu to this energetic area and head north. Someday, we’d like to visit here again. The seeming abundance of dances and the many paved bike paths alone have endeared it to us.
